Working through 14 extensive lessons, you will learn to read and interpret a Vedic birth chart from the ground up, using your own chart as your primary text. Upon registration, you will receive your personal Vedic horoscope alongside the full course materials. Topics covered include:

Two ways to study
Email Correspondence — £300
The traditional Dirah format. Each lesson is sent to you by email, you work through it at your own pace, complete the written assignment, and receive detailed personal feedback from me before progressing to the next lesson. Rigorous, self-directed and deeply personal, this is a one-to-one correspondence between student and teacher.
Suitable for those who prefer to study independently and at their own pace.
Email Correspondence + Monthly Live Q&A — £450
Everything in the email correspondence course, plus a monthly live session on Zoom with the full cohort. These sessions are an opportunity to ask questions, discuss the material in depth, share observations from your own chart work, and learn from others in the group. The cohort is intentionally small, no more than 9 students, to ensure genuine depth of discussion and personal attention.
Suitable for those who want the structure and community of group learning alongside the self-paced correspondence course.

The full curriculum
Foundation is the first of four courses in the Dirah Academy programme. Each builds on the last, taking students from foundational chart reading through to advanced Jyotish techniques.
Course 1: Applied Vedic Astrology (Foundation) — planets, signs, houses, yogas, dashas, chart analysis
Course 2: Applied Vedic Astrology (Advanced) — nakshatras, shadbala, Ashtakavarga, Tajika, Varshaphal, horary, muhurta and prashna, more varga charts, bhava charts, relationship compatibility
Course 3: Advanced Techniques for Jyotish — Jaimini astrology, chara dasha, Systems Approach, Krishnamurti Paddhati (KP), transits, western aspects, outer planets, bhrigu & tertiary progressions, eclipses, astrocartography
Course 4: Advanced Knowledge for Jyotish — birth time rectification, advanced relationship compatibility, starting a professional practice, advanced Stellar Astrology (KP), yogi & avayogi, fatal degrees, rashi tulya navamsha, working with dispositors, hora chart, more yogas
Students who complete all four courses are awarded the Dirah Diploma in Advanced Studies in Vedic Astrology, an internationally recognised qualification for those wishing to practise professionally.
Certification
Upon successful completion of all lessons and assignments, students receive certification from Dirah Academy International, a long-established Vedic astrology correspondence programme with centres worldwide. Each course provides 100 flexible study hours.
The Dirah Diploma
Students who complete all four courses are awarded the Dirah Diploma in Advanced Studies in Vedic Astrology. Dirah Academy recognises the significant commitment and effort required to complete all four modules, each of which is held to a high standard. The Diploma reflects an excellent understanding of Jyotish techniques and the ability to apply them wisely and effectively. It is a respected qualification for those wishing to practise Vedic astrology professionally, and is internationally recognised through Dirah Academy's centres worldwide.
Many graduates of Dirah Academy have gone on to become professional practising Vedic astrologers. Dirah Academy has been at the forefront of distance learning and certification in Vedic astrology for over 20 years.
Who this is for
This course is for serious beginners: those with little or no prior knowledge of Jyotish but a genuine desire to understand it properly. You do not need a background in astrology, but you do need curiosity, commitment and a willingness to look honestly at yourself through the lens of your chart.

Registration is confirmed upon receipt of your completed application and payment in full. Once confirmed, your personal Vedic horoscope and full course materials will be sent to you.
Assignment feedback
All completed assignments will be returned with corrections and detailed comments within seven working days. In exceptional circumstances such as illness or holidays, you will be notified of any delay.
Support
You are welcome to contact me by email throughout the course with questions or observations. A good student-teacher relationship is something I take seriously, and I am here to guide you through the material.
Pausing your studies
If you need to take a break, you may request a temporary pause of up to four months. Please get in touch and we will arrange this together.
Cancellation
If you wish to withdraw from the course before submitting your fifth assignment, a refund will be issued minus an administration fee of £30. After the fifth assignment has been submitted, the course fee is non-refundable.

The next live cohort begins in October 2026. Monthly Q&A sessions run alongside the correspondence course for the duration of your study.
