Rooted in centuries of tradition, a tea ceremony offers a sacred pause in an otherwise busy world, inviting us to slow down and savour the moment. Zen monks relied on Camellia Sinensis as a health tonic and an aid to meditation and enlightenment. The Japanese tea ceremony developed under this context and was refined by Sen no Rikyū in the 16th century, who elevated it into an art form deeply embedded in Japanese cultural ideals. It continues to be practised as a meditative ritual that brings presence, tranquility, and intention into our daily lives.
A student of the Japanese Way of Tea of the Urasenke tradition, my formal practice is rooted in matcha. Beyond this, I also work ceremonially with other Japanese and Chinese teas, and, as an Ayurvedic practitioner, with herbal plant allies — each chosen for their character, season and Spirit. I believe that ritual deepens self-awareness and helps us commune with Nature and the Divine, and bring this understanding to every cup.
Whether you are drawn to the spiritual aspects of tea or simply seeking a moment of quiet respite from a restless mind, these offerings provide a sacred space to sit in silence, savour the present, and immerse yourself in the depth and beauty of this timeless tradition.
Experiencing tea with Moon & Soma
Tea appears throughout my offerings — as a ritual opening to an astrology reading, as a ceremony in its own right, and as a thread woven through events and gatherings. The type of tea, the preparation and the setting vary depending on the occasion, but the intention is always the same: to slow down, arrive fully, and be present with what is.
Current tea offerings can be found on the offerings page. Private tea ceremonies and bespoke events can be arranged on request. Please get in touch to discuss.
